MAY 2015 - GIBRALTAR

-
“Travel brings wisdom only to the wise. It renders the ignorant more ignorant than ever.”   Joe Abercrombie

8 HOURS IN GILBRALTAR

Gibraltar is well knowed for top accounting & lawers jobs opportunities and several duty free shops in the main street. But my challenge today

will be to reach Gibraltar Rock by foot in 1.30 hours.
You can arrive on the small Gibraltar airport from UK or on Malaga International one from others EU countries. Then for 150€ around join Gibraltar border from Malaga wit a taxi
The weather seem cloudy but it is perfect cause sun can be very hard in this part of the world.

Cabs are available for a quick arrival on the top but my experience shows me that you meet and see more interesting stuffs by your way naturally with lot of traveler precautions.

Lion's club symbols at the entrance of Gibraltar remind me my second adventure trip with Norcamtour when i was a cub member at 7 years old. Let have a typical architectural panorama of this litlle but great rock.

If you search a natural spot insert  Alameda botanical garden  in your program before starting the performing walk to the top.

Free entrance for a overview of strange plants and flowers.

Wildlife side is payable

After this green break start the most painfully walk i ever done in the both side but  funny with anecdotes.

First impress a slight slope and sustained,a winding road with impressive ravines . Long minutes later more than 40 mn i have reach St Michael cave's which a church build among cute stalactites.

And around, you have clever Apes ( monkeys of the Rock ) jumping evrywhere on bus, cabs, shops ready to pick your hats or glasses so be careful...

Funny story. Litlle Scare, I nibbled peanuts when suddenly an Ape followed me aggressively to get my package. i have try to resist but i finally decided to throw  it to him and walk as quickly as possible.

At this point i was sweating but the panoramic view on Africa and the Highest Harbour was so impressive from there as a reward.

Be sure to have the capacity to make the return by foot cause the only cab you will find here are booked by those who have decided to do it easily.

No  others cabs if you change and you are tired.By visiting the

The moorish castle dates to the year 1333 AD.The entrance is free and nearest this, you will see this amaizing structure for treating lime in the past.

I thought I had seen everything during my descent when I realized that I found myself in a small area like a little Brazilian favela due to houses building and atmosphère. It was a surprise to cross this facet with the air of Rio and its view of the bay.

A lemonade in this irish street after a sport & gratifiant walk was welcome....
Ocean village, the Marina of Gibraltar allow you a dolphin adventure to watch them in their natural environment

Grilled fish &chips as in Ireland with vegetables at the Marina  and next month with a new exotic stoppover
